“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

When the religious politicians accused Jesus of casting out demons by the powers of the prince of

demons, Beelzebub, Jesus made the above statement. It’s interesting to me because I see so much

division in our world today, even in the Church. It’s interesting because I see the powers of darkness

behind these divisions. I was recently in a discussion with someone about the war between Ukraine and

Russia. The discussion eventually came down to which side do you support? My response was that I’m

on the side of peace. I’m sure it breaks God’s heart to see so many young soldiers dying in this war.

General George Patton said that “war is hell” and he was right. As Christians, we are called to be

peacemakers, whether it is on a national scale or on a personal scale.

Let us pray for peace and pray against the one who comes to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus has come to

give us life and give it to us with abundance. Let our lives and our prayers lead to that abundant life for

ourselves and our world!

United in Christ,

Pastor Chris Yount

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and constant in prayer.”

Great words from St. Paul for us in the good times and the times of struggle. Jesus tells us also that in this life we will have tribulation but to be of good cheer, because He has overcome the world. So…if we think everything is always going to be easy or if someone tells us if we live or believe a certain way then life will be without challenges, we will be continually disappointed. The truth is that life is tough but that there will also be times of hope and celebration. The key to living a fulfilled, contented Christian life is summed up in the last 3 words of the quote above. Being “constant in prayer” will keep us in continual fellowship with Jesus. Abiding in Him brings forth peace and as we get better at hearing His still small voice, He will lead us throughout our day. By the way, if you just read this, send me an email at wakeuppc@gmail.com and I will send you a blessing!

Rejoicing in Hope,

Pastor Chris Yount
