“Is it I Lord?”
When Jesus was sitting with the Disciples at the Last Supper, He shared that someone at the
table would betray Him. Of course we are familiar with the rotten scoundrel, Judas Isacariot,
who betrayed Jesus to the authorities for 30 pieces of silver. How could he do such a rotten
thing? How could he betray the Lord, the One who loved him so very much? But then I thought
to myself, “have I betrayed the Lord, have I ever sinned against the Lord, thus betraying Him?”
The answer is a resounding yes. I certainly have sinned against Him, for every sin I commit is
against God. On Wednesday evening many of us came together to commit the season of Lent
to pressing in closer to God, receiving the ashes representing our mortality and our great need
for the presence of the Lord. As we begin this season of Lent, I encourage you to seek the Holy
Spirit’s guidance as to what discipline(s) you will practice for drawing even closer to God as we
prepare for the great Resurrection celebration.
Prayerfully,
Pastor Chris Yount
