“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may
come from the presence of the Lord.”
Times of refreshing may come, doesn’t that sound great? There are two requirements that Peter
mentions in this message he delivers in the Temple after God has healed man who been lame from
birth, over 40 years. First, repent or turn from your sins and don’t go back, in other words a change of
hurt and action. Secondly, as we turn away from this world of sin to be converted or transformed into a
Christ follower. You see, repentance without conversion is a temporary change of habits but not a
transformation of one’s life. If we are not a different person after we accept Christ than we were before
Christ, I think we need to take a hard look at ourselves to determine if we truly repented and have been
converted. There are an awful lot of people calling themselves Christians, that bare an uncanny
resemblance to the rest of the world. We are called apart from the world to be a part of the Body of
Christ. As we anticipate Holy Week, let us do some prayerful self-examination to see where we stand. As
we do this, times of refreshing will follow!
Introspectively,
Pastor Chris Yount
