“Lord, I want to receive my sight.”

Bartimaeus was blind and when he heard that Jesus was coming, he cried out repeatedly “Jesus, Son of

David, have mercy on me.” When Jesus calls for Bartimaeus to be brought to him, Jesus asks him what

He could do for him? Bartimaeus proclaims his faith by calling Jesus Lord and asks for his sight to be

restored. His faith told Bartimaeus that Jesus was the Messiah and healing a couple of blind men (see

Matthew 20) would be completely within His ability. When Jesus healed him, he took up his mat

rejoicing and followed the Lord and all the people saw it and gave praise to God! I pray that God would

continue to increase our spiritual sight that we would follow close after Him with rejoicing.
