“In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world!”

-Jesus

It shouldn’t surprise us that there is so much chaos and confusion in the world. We know from Jesus’

teaching that people will hurt one another and act selfishly. As we witness these times of tumult we

need to keep in mind the words from Jesus above… “I have overcome the world!” Watching the talking

heads on television or the many influencers on social media can bring us to a place of anger or

hopelessness. This is why it is so important for us to become “people of the Book”. As we abide in the

Bible, it begins to take root in our hearts and our minds training us to discern between the lies of the

enemy and truth that is backed up by the Word of God. Let us make 2026 a year that we allow the holy

scriptures to have a much greater influence on our lives than anything else the world offers!

Abiding in the Truth,

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and constant in prayer.”

Great words from St. Paul for us in the good times and the times of struggle. Jesus tells us also that in this life we will have tribulation but to be of good cheer, because He has overcome the world. So…if we think everything is always going to be easy or if someone tells us if we live or believe a certain way then life will be without challenges, we will be continually disappointed. The truth is that life is tough but that there will also be times of hope and celebration. The key to living a fulfilled, contented Christian life is summed up in the last 3 words of the quote above. Being “constant in prayer” will keep us in continual fellowship with Jesus. Abiding in Him brings forth peace and as we get better at hearing His still small voice, He will lead us throughout our day. Rejoicing in Hope,
