“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”

Too often I take this verse from the beginning of the Gospel of John for granted without really

contemplating the incredible truth that John is exposing us to. Jesus is the Word and has always been.

There is no time that He did not exist as a member of the Holy Trinity. When we read the Gospels, it’s

easy for us to forget He is God, as we get caught up in His humanity. When we read the rest of the New

Testament it is made pretty clear Who Jesus is, especially by Paul. As we read the Old Testament, we

also find the Son evident if we read with eyes that look for Him.

What I want for us to become more aware of, is this…that same Jesus, that we know as our Savior,

dwells in our hearts and has not diminished in power one iota. He is the same today as He was during

the miraculous days of the Bible. He is still able and willing to move in our midst, especially to show the

lost, that in Him they can be found. So, pray with that realization my friend and see what He can still do!

With Anticipation,

Pastor Chris Yount

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and constant in prayer.”

Great words from St. Paul for us in the good times and the times of struggle. Jesus tells us also that in this life we will have tribulation but to be of good cheer, because He has overcome the world. So…if we think everything is always going to be easy or if someone tells us if we live or believe a certain way then life will be without challenges, we will be continually disappointed. The truth is that life is tough but that there will also be times of hope and celebration. The key to living a fulfilled, contented Christian life is summed up in the last 3 words of the quote above. Being “constant in prayer” will keep us in continual fellowship with Jesus. Abiding in Him brings forth peace and as we get better at hearing His still small voice, He will lead us throughout our day. By the way, if you just read this, send me an email at wakeuppc@gmail.com and I will send you a blessing!

Rejoicing in Hope,

Pastor Chris Yount
