“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving make your
requests known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts
and minds in Christ Jesus.”
This is such a cool verse. It really has a double meaning when you stop to examine it. First, Paul tells the
church at Philippi to bring everything to God in prayer. Of course, our hope is that God will answer these
prayers. But there is another facet to this passage. If we bring everything to God in prayer, He will grant
us His peace whether we receive the answer to prayer that we are seeking or not.
As we abide in prayer over these areas that are causing us concern, we are also abiding in His peace.
And this my friends is an incredible gift from God.

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and constant in prayer.”
Great words from St. Paul for us in the good times and the times of struggle. Jesus tells us also that in this life we will have tribulation but to be of good cheer, because He has overcome the world. So…if we think everything is always going to be easy or if someone tells us if we live or believe a certain way then life will be without challenges, we will be continually disappointed. The truth is that life is tough but that there will also be times of hope and celebration. The key to living a fulfilled, contented Christian life is summed up in the last 3 words of the quote above. Being “constant in prayer” will keep us in continual fellowship with Jesus. Abiding in Him brings forth peace and as we get better at hearing His still small voice, He will lead us throughout our day.
