“For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

When one faces death, whether it is the death of a loved one or our own death, it should change the way that we face life. For myself, it has given me a new appreciation for each day that the Lord grants me. Many mornings I will thank God for the gift of this day, knowing that many did not wake up this morning. Pul faced death many times in his decades of ministry for the Lord. He was shipwrecked, stoned, beaten and in continuous danger of losing his life. I believe the words that he said that I quoted above were arrived at through the crucible of persecution. As it is today, most of us are not in any immediate danger to life or limb due to our faith. Still, we can get anxious about the thought of our own mortality. The more time we spend in the Word of God, praying with the believers and being still before God in prayer, the less power the thought of death will have upon us. Remember, your expiration date is in God’s hands, so live life fully for Him in the meantime!

Seizing the day,

Pastor Chris Yount

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and constant in prayer.”

Great words from St. Paul for us in the good times and the times of struggle. Jesus tells us also that in this life we will have tribulation but to be of good cheer, because He has overcome the world. So…if we think everything is always going to be easy or if someone tells us if we live or believe a certain way then life will be without challenges, we will be continually disappointed. The truth is that life is tough but that there will also be times of hope and celebration. The key to living a fulfilled, contented Christian life is summed up in the last 3 words of the quote above. Being “constant in prayer” will keep us in continual fellowship with Jesus. Abiding in Him brings forth peace and as we get better at hearing His still small voice, He will lead us throughout our day. By the way, if you just read this, send me an email at wakeuppc@gmail.com and I will send you a blessing!

Rejoicing in Hope,

Pastor Chris Yount
